Challenging myself to explore a new medium in 2009, I learned on the spot. Encaustic is a medium which is applied while the paint is hot. Pigment emerged in bees wax and resin is melted and applied on a hard surface. Each layer of paint needs to be reheated to keep the layers from separating. Working fast and having a planned design is essential for success.
