The backstory:
In 2008, for 21 days I embarked on an experience that would change my life forever. I began this series “Lady in pink”, en plein air—direct on location, painting daily in Europe.
In one of the oldest German villages, I was offered the chance to paint on three different occasions. Here, (my first painting of Kempen) shows a view from under an awning of the cow gate—one entrance into the heart of the ancient city. Although the town is well preserved, it is a modern home to many passersby. A woman and a man on bikes ride down the street. Local residents go along their way, tending to business. A lone artist captures a glimpse of “the lady in pink” as she walks along the sidewalk.
History and modern life intertwine.
