Today was a truly special moment in the Miss Mary Piano Project journey. Artist Joel Anderson returned to the studio to continue his work on the back panel of the piano—five beautifully expressive portraits of legendary composers, all sketched in his signature line style.
Joel, an exceptionally talented artist who is also on the autism spectrum, brings a depth of insight and sensitivity to his work that speaks volumes. His artistic vision adds both soul and substance to this collaborative community project. His quiet focus and steady hand have given life to the faces of composers whose music has shaped generations.
Watching Joel create is like witnessing history being honored and interpreted all at once. His portraits are not only visual tributes—they are bridges connecting the past with the present, breathing fresh perspective into the piano’s vibrant storytelling. This project is about connection—across disciplines, generations, and abilities—and Joel’s contribution reflects exactly that. I’m beyond grateful to have him as part of this journey.
We are entering the final stretch—just a few more days of painting before the piano must dry for delivery to the Brooks Theatre.
If you believe in the power of art, collaboration, and storytelling, please consider supporting the final days of this project. Your encouragement—whether through a donation, a share, or even a cheer—keeps us going.
