#dailygratitude - Learn. Live. Love

The Backstory:

Sometimes life gives us a colorful story. Sometimes life challenges us. Sometimes life helps us learn to love more deeply.

This portrait of my youngest daughter was created in 2007 when she was 15-years-old. The multiple views are different stages of her life—past, present and future. The colors and symbols tell the story of her challenges, successes and hope for future. The Newborn baby on the left is surrounded by pink for innocence and love. Emotional color fills the piece as the child ages. Engagement and laughter is missing, while her mouth remains unsmiling. The eyes look straight ahead at the camera, staring through hidden thoughts. The center portrait is full of conflicting colors, depicting the difficult years of puberty. The stages of growth continue with the next portrait where she is shown with a twinkle in her eye. Warm colors emerge showing acceptance, connection, and peace. Finally, during the last years of life there is wisdom as she engages with her world.
