The backstory:
A few years ago, I created this painting “en plein air” at the Huntington Gardens in San Marino. Packing in my paints, easel, and 30”x30” canvas I needed to decide where I would set up my outdoor studio. The morning sun was warming quickly. I finally found a cool, shady spot to study my subjects. From my point of view, I could see only a handful of the many sculptures which had been placed in the sculptures garden. As the sun began to heat up the morning, my painting began to blaze with color.
