Life in Los Angeles is tied in closely with transportation. Getting from here to there is upmost in our minds. We drive our vehicles, ride in taxis, and rely on the Metropolitan Transit to get us to our destinations. Anyone traveling downtown has experienced the tunnels–as cars slow to a crawl and drivers suddenly swap lanes, unsure of the upcoming interchange. The mood changes when night is combined with rain. The reflections on the pavement dance with break-lights and freeway signs. For a moment, the warm, glowing inner- light of the tunnel almost seems to welcome the traveler.
