A summer day.
The gardener toils.
And cares with loving hand.
He turns the earth.
He waters deep.
The fertile ground responds.
The garden glows
With colored hue.
Green. Red. Orange. And blue.
The gardener

The backstory:
Working in the mid-morning warmth isn’t always a fun activity. The sun is both an adversary and a friend as you try to find shade for yourself, and still get a good view of your outdoor subject. Sometimes I question my sanity and wonder what in the world I was thinking! But the day I caught this gardener manicuring the roses in the gardens at the Huntington Library, I was reminded why hard work can also be the most rewarding.
And the Artist paints.
