The back story:
This painting was inspired as I was painting outdoors in Germany on my first trip to Europe. Almost finished with the days artwork, I stood at my easel and took a second look at the beautiful church before me, and the canvas which I would later name "A Casual Stroll”. Grabbing my camera I began taking final reference photos so I could finish the piece in my studio once I returned home. A man on a bike passed by and turned his head to look at me. His curiosity was mirrored by my interest in his culture. I quickly snapped his portrait. He would eventually become the subject of this piece “A Closer Look”. In the background you will find my sister in front of the church in St.Tönis ... “The Lady in Pink”.
